Try Shirataki Rice/Noodles For Weight Loss

Shirataki Noodles Weight Loss

Spaghetti, noodles, and rice are grain-based foods that are high in carbohydrates and low in micronutrients. Regular consumption leads to inflammation, insulin resistance, weight gain, reduced testosterone levels, and in those who are susceptible – man boobs.

I've previously told you about two great rice alternatives – cauliflower and broccoli rice.

Recently I started having spaghetti bolognese as a cheat meal. It's a simple, easy to prepare meal that tastes great. But one day I decided to look for a healthy grain-free alternative to spaghetti, and I found something that sounded too good to be true.

It's derived from a natural ingredient, contains no artificial additives, and in fact contains zero carbs, is gluten free, and even contains zero calories!

Enter “shirataki” noodles.

Shirataki noodles are made from the Japanese konjac yam (also known as devil’s tongue or elephant yam). They consist almost entirely of water and soluble fiber.

When I went to my health food store to get some, I found that they also do konjac rice! So I bought both.

Here are the results:

Konjac rice & chicken curry
Konjac spaghetti bolognese (meh, this one got a bit messy because I only remembered to take the picture after I started eating it)

The good thing is both the rice and noodles have no flavor, and are great at soaking up the juices from whatever you're eating it with.

The bad thing is the consistency of this stuff isn't perfect, it's got this funny bounce and rubbery feel to it. I personally prefer cauliflower or broccoli rice, so I won't be buying the rice again. With the spaghetti, it's better than nothing, and I'd much rather have this stuff than the standard wheat spaghetti if I was trying to lose weight, lose man boobs, or boost my health.

This is a huge find for anyone trying to lose weight. Up until now, spaghetti was a cheat meal for me. Now that I've found this awesome low carb alternative, I can eat spaghetti regularly without using up my 80/20 cheat allowance.

And hey, this stuff is more than just a neutral substitute for the standard man boob growing wheat spaghetti. It can actually play an active role in boosting your health and could possibly indirectly help you to lose your man boobs.

See, glucomannan is sold as a health supplement for its benefits of curbing hunger hormones, and fueling good gut bacteria as a prebiotic. The glucomannan in shirataki noodles can also help you lose weight by reducing blood sugar levels. It can even boost your heart health by improving your cholesterol profile.

Give this stuff a try and let me know how you find it.

This stuff is quite popular, so you should be able to find it in most supermarkets or health food stores.

If you want to get it online, here's one with good reviews:

I find people have a love/hate relationship with this stuff, they either love it or hate it, so be sure to get one small bag first from a local shop before you buy it in bulk online.

Some people complain that shirataki noodles stink of fish (most of the negative reviews online are because of this), but that's just the water that it's soaked in. They don't have any intrinsic flavor once properly washed out.
